Pilikula Regional Science Centre is an ideal destination for curious souls. The science centre has some of the most exciting experiences in Mangalore. It’s set up and managed by different government bodies to promote scientific activities among kids.

The science centre has exhibition halls with a variety of interactive setups. And it also has activities, demonstrations and workshops going all over the place.

The place has a 3D theatre, library and planetarium, too. Your expedition begins the moment you step into the park. The Science Park on the premises has various scientific concepts on display, put amidst the lush green garden.

1. Browse the entertaining exhibits – Pilikula Science Centre has different halls, with interactive exhibits from various fields of science and technology. You can explore and experience the wonders of science and their underlying principles effortlessly. The place also has a biodiversity gallery, with exhibits about the evolution of life forms, diversity in ecosystem, farming and other similar topics.

2. Play in the Science Park – This Regional Science Centre has several outdoor science exhibits installed in a lush green park. It’s designed to make science learning easy. You can learn about subjects like optics, levers and pulleys, swings and other mechanical things. The park also has a Dinosaur Park with exhibits of those extinct dinosaurs.

3. Visit the in-house planetarium – Pilikula Regional Science Centre has a state-of-the-art 3D planetarium. An inflatable, small and portable planetarium is also in the science centre. It has simple projection equipment that shows the night sky and the vast world of stars and planets in the sky.

Pilikula Regional Science Centre Timings and Entry Fees

Pilikula Regional Science Centre Mangalore opens every day, except Monday, from 10 AM to 5.30 PM. The last ticket and entry is available only till 5 PM, though.

The entry fee for the science centre is ₹30 for adults and ₹20 for kids (below 10 years). The fee for the 3D theatre entry is ₹20 and ₹15. For the planetarium, it’s ₹90 and ₹70. You also need to pay extra for a camera or video camera. It’s ₹170 and ₹500, respectively.

The best time to visit the science centre is between November and February. It’s when the weather is the most favourable. You can explore the complex easily in about 1-2 hours.

How to reach Pilikula Regional Science Centre Mangalore?

Pilikula Regional Science Centre lies along Mangalore-Karkala Highway. It’s 10 km from the railway station and bus stop and 12 km from Mangalore airport. And here’s how to reach the science centre –

By bus – Buses are available from Mangalore to Pilikula. The nearest bus stop is only a few hundred metres away from the science centre.

By taxi/cab – Taking a cab or taxi is the easiest way to visit Pilikula Regional Science Centre. You can hire a cab from the top car rentals in Mangalore and see the science centre and other tourist places nearby.
